What are Three Disadvantages of Starlink?

Three disadvantages of Starlink are: (1) the requirement to buy the equipment up front for $599 for residential service; (2) the equipment installation is not provided; you must install the outdoor dish, cable, and indoor Wi-Fi router yourself; and, (3) proper signal reception requires a clear view of at least 100 degrees of unobstructed sky over and around the dish. Many customers successfully overcome all three and are very happy with Starlink service but it is important to know the details before you sign up. If you are not confident about the installation you may be able to locate a freelance installer in your area who can perform the work. However, not having an unobstructed sky view can be harder to address if it involves more than taking down a small branch or two.
