Viasat-3 is a Ka-band satellite and as such it offers several advantages over lower-frequency bands. The Ka-band provides higher data transfer rates and larger bandwidth capacity, allowing for faster and more efficient communication. This makes Ka-band well-suited for delivering high-speed internet access, multimedia services, and other data-intensive applications. The Ka-band ranges from approximately 26.5 to 40 gigahertz (GHz). The "Ka" in Ka-band stands for "K-above," indicating that it falls above the Ku-band (used by earlier satellite systems) in terms of frequency.
