Which Internet Providers Include a Wi-Fi 7 Router?
Updated

As of October 12, 2026, the internet providers that include a Wi-Fi 7 router at no extra charge are Brightspeed (on every new fiber plan, since October 9), Google Fiber (on its 3 Gig and 8 Gig plans) and Frontier (on its 5 Gig and 7 Gig fiber plans). Xfinity is rolling out Wi-Fi 7 gateways to eligible homes, and Kinetic pairs its fiber service with eero Wi-Fi 7 devices. AT&T and Verizon Fios make Wi-Fi 7 an extra: AT&T charges $25/mo for All-Fi Pro, and Verizon’s standard included router is Wi-Fi 6E.
The biggest change is Brightspeed’s. Until this month, most providers kept Wi-Fi 7 for their priciest multi-gig tiers. Brightspeed now ships Wi-Fi 7 equipment with its entry 200 Mbps fiber plan too. Below is our provider-by-provider table, followed by advice on whether Wi-Fi 7 actually matters for your plan.
Who includes a Wi-Fi 7 router (October 2026)
| Provider | Wi-Fi 7 included? | Which plans | Extra cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| Brightspeed | Yes | Every new fiber plan, 200 Mbps through 8 Gig | None; router stays Brightspeed property |
| Google Fiber | Yes | Home 3 Gig and Edge 8 Gig (Wi-Fi 7 router plus up to two mesh extenders) | None on those plans |
| Frontier | Yes | Fiber 5 Gig and Fiber 7 Gig (eero Max 7; 7 Gig adds a second unit) | None on those plans |
| Xfinity | For eligible homes | Wi-Fi 7 gateways (XB9, XB10) and a Wi-Fi 7 router for fiber-to-the-unit buildings | Depends on your plan and equipment terms |
| Kinetic | Offered with fiber | Kinetic Fiber with eero Pro 7 devices; free professional setup | Confirm which plan includes it at your address |
| AT&T | Paid add-on | All fiber plans include All-Fi; Wi-Fi 7 comes with All-Fi Pro | $25/mo plus tax |
| Verizon Fios | Not as the standard router | Included Verizon Router is Wi-Fi 6E; a Wi-Fi 7 access point supports 1, 2 and 5 Gig plans | Check the offer for your plan |
Checked on each provider’s own website and announcements as of October 12, 2026. Brightspeed announced Wi-Fi 7 on every new fiber plan on October 9, 2026; Google Fiber announced its included Wi-Fi 7 router in February 2026. Availability varies by address.
What Brightspeed changed
Brightspeed says Wi-Fi 7 compatible equipment is now included with new eligible fiber plans at no additional cost, and new customers do not need to do anything to get it. Its fiber plan page lists a Wi-Fi 7 router on every tier, from 200 Mbps up to 8 Gig, with no annual contract. Existing Brightspeed fiber customers may be able to upgrade, depending on their current service and equipment, by checking their account. The router has to go back if you cancel, or Brightspeed charges an unreturned-equipment fee.

Paid add-ons: AT&T and Verizon
AT&T includes its All-Fi Wi-Fi package with every fiber plan, but Wi-Fi 7 comes with the All-Fi Pro upgrade at $25/mo plus tax. Pro also adds an equipment upgrade program, once you have kept it for 12 months, limited to one upgrade every 36 months. Over a year, that add-on costs $300 before tax, which is more than many good Wi-Fi 7 routers. Our review of whether AT&T All-Fi Pro is worth it runs the numbers.
Verizon Fios includes a router, but its standard Verizon Router is Wi-Fi 6E. Verizon offers a Wi-Fi 7 access point that works with Fios 1 Gig, 2 Gig and 5 Gig service as a router or an extender.

Do you need Wi-Fi 7?
Wi-Fi 7 helps most when three things are true: you pay for more than about 1 Gig, you own Wi-Fi 7 devices (recent flagship phones and laptops), and your home is big or busy enough that today’s Wi-Fi is the bottleneck. If you have a 300 Mbps plan and a few phones, a good Wi-Fi 6 router already delivers your full speed.
| Your situation | What we suggest |
|---|---|
| Plan under 1 Gig, older devices | Use the included router; Wi-Fi 7 adds little |
| Plan under 1 Gig, but dead spots | Mesh extenders or better router placement matter more than the Wi-Fi generation |
| 1–2 Gig plan, new phones and laptops | Wi-Fi 7 is worth taking if it is free; think twice before paying monthly |
| Multi-gig plan (3 Gig and up) | Wi-Fi 7 is the only way to get close to those speeds wirelessly |
Our guide to whether a faster plan improves your Wi-Fi explains why the router often matters more than the plan, and why your router matters more than your plan goes deeper.
When your own router makes more sense
If your provider charges monthly for Wi-Fi 7, buying a router can pay for itself. At $25/mo, AT&T’s add-on costs $300 a year. A budget Wi-Fi 7 router like the one in our TP-Link Archer BE9700 review is a one-time purchase that you keep if you switch providers. The trade-off is support: the provider will not troubleshoot a router it does not own, and some features (like AT&T’s app-based extenders) only work with the provider’s equipment. Xfinity customers weighing that choice can read our Xfinity gateway vs your own router guide.
Questions to ask before you order
- Is the Wi-Fi 7 router included on the plan I am ordering, or only on faster tiers?
- Is there a monthly equipment or Wi-Fi fee?
- Are mesh extenders included if my home needs them?
- Can existing customers swap their old router, and is there a charge?
- What is the fee if I do not return the router when I cancel?
