How Many GB is Unlimited Data?

Unlimited data means there are no limits on the amount of GB you can use while online with Viasat. The GB cap you have in your plan allocation amount refers to fast-data GB, meaning, data you use at the highest speed available at that time. Once you exceed that data amount you still have internet but it will be slower to allow other users equal access to the signal.

Streaming video uses the most data you can use of any online activity. If you stream movies in standard definition (SD) you can use about 1 GB per hour, and if you stream in high-definition (HD) streaming you can use up to 3 GB per hour. If you stream in ultra-high-definition (UHD or 4K) you will consumer around 7 GB per hour.

The number of devices online at one time, and the actions each is performing while online, will determine data use. Each device uses data individually so each device is adding to your total data usage amount. Checking email, web surfing, and using social media tend to consume less than streaming movies and TV shows. Video conferencing with a camera on can use about 540MB to 1.6GB per hour.

Viasat satellite internet offers you unlimited data each month regardless of your plan. The fast-data amount, once exceeded, will not stop you from receiving a signal but it will be slower. You also have the option to purchase more fast data when you need it by checking your account online or using the My Viasat phone app.
