Viasat customers in North America overall are going to see an improvement in their experience due to the deployment of the new Viasat-3 satellite that was launched successfully on May 1, 2023. There are three new satellites in total with this constellation and the final two will serve global regions outside North America. But the first one definitely covers North America and has a significant performance upgrade in network capacity. This means there should be fewer buffering delays, less congestion, and a better overall experience for Viasat customers in North America even with their existing plan.

If your needs are more immediate and you want more capacity now then you can look into upgrading your plan. Whether you wait or don’t wait, the Viasat-3 effect should improve performance. To be fair, you won’t be changing the fast-data allocation without a plan upgrade, but you may notice less congestion and may get closer to the stated “up to” download speeds per your current plan more often after Viasat-3 goes operational in late fall of 2023.
