Xfinity Expands Internet to More Than 2,300 Clay County, Florida Homes and Businesses

Updated

Rural Florida road lined with pine trees and utility poles carrying new cable lines toward a row of homes

More of rural Clay County, Florida, can now get wired high-speed internet. Comcast announced on September 28, 2026, that Xfinity and Comcast Business service is now available to more than 2,300 homes and businesses in the county, including more than 1,600 locations that previously had no broadband access.

The build is part of a public-private partnership with the state, and more homes are still being connected. Here's what you need to know if you live in the area.

Where the new service is available

Comcast says the newly served locations are in and around these communities:

  • Clay Hill
  • Green Cove Springs
  • Keystone Heights
  • Kingsley Lake
  • Lake Geneva
  • Middleburg
  • Penney Farms

Construction is still underway to reach more than 600 additional locations, with completion expected by the end of 2026. If you're near one of these communities and service isn't listed at your address yet, you may be in that next group. Comcast's MyTown address lookup on the Xfinity site shows construction timing and availability for individual addresses. The Xfinity Store at 1340 Blanding Blvd. in Orange Park can also help.

Why it matters for rural Clay County

The county's western and southern areas are a mix of small towns, lakes, farmland and long rural roads. Those are exactly the places where wired internet has been slowest to arrive, because each mile of line serves fewer homes. Many households there have relied on satellite, fixed wireless, cellular hotspots or older DSL. A wired cable connection usually means faster speeds, lower latency and no data caps on Xfinity's current plans.

Comcast describes its network as fiber-powered. Fiber carries the signal into the neighborhood, and the final connection to each home is coaxial cable. That setup delivers fast download speeds, though uploads are lower than on fiber-to-the-home service.

Xfinity plans and prices

Pricing depends on your address, but these were Xfinity's advertised plans for new customers on October 2, 2026:

PlanPriceGood for
300 Mbps$45/mo for 5 yearsStreaming, browsing and video calls for a small household
500 Mbps$60/mo for 5 yearsSeveral people streaming and working at once
1 Gig$70/mo for 5 yearsBusy homes, gaming and lots of connected devices

Each plan includes Wi-Fi equipment and unlimited data, with no annual contract. The five-year price lock requires AutoPay from a bank account and paperless billing, and taxes and fees are extra. This offer runs through October 25. Plans of 300 Mbps and up also include an Xfinity Mobile line free for a year.

Is it worth switching?

If you're on satellite or DSL now, compare three things before you switch:

  • Speed you'll actually use. Most households are well served by 300 to 500 Mbps. A gig makes sense for big families, heavy gamers or people who move large files.
  • Total monthly cost. Add up your current bill, including equipment and any data overage charges, and compare it with Xfinity's price plus taxes and fees.
  • Your current contract. Some satellite plans carry early termination fees or equipment you'll need to return. Check before you cancel.

Also check whether any other providers serve your address. Rural Florida is seeing several broadband builds at once, and you may have more choices than you expect.

What Comcast Business customers get

The expansion also covers businesses in these areas. Small shops, farms and home offices that have been limited by slow connections can now look at Comcast Business plans, which are priced separately from residential Xfinity service.
