Tillman's Carl E. Erhart called the Treasure Coast "one of the state's most important growth corridors" and said reliable fiber supports economic development, education, healthcare access and business recruitment.
How the Tillman and T-Mobile setup works
Tillman builds and owns the fiber lines. T-Mobile Fiber sells the service, handles billing and supports customers. It's an open-access style model that lets T-Mobile grow its fiber footprint without digging every street itself, similar to its partnerships elsewhere, such as Lumos and T-Mobile Fiber in Lorain, Ohio.
What it means for Treasure Coast homes
- Another wired choice. Many Treasure Coast homes now choose mainly between cable, 5G home internet and satellite. Fiber adds an option with matching upload and download speeds.
- Storm resilience. Underground fiber is less exposed to wind than overhead lines, though power outages still knock out your router unless you have backup power.
- Don't cancel yet. Wait until T-Mobile Fiber confirms service at your exact address, then line up the install before you end your current plan.
