Spectrum Regional Sports Networks Explained: Which Plan You Need for Local Games

If you want your local NBA, MLB or NHL team on Spectrum, you need Stream TV Pro or Stream TV VIP. Those are the two Spectrum TV plans that include regional sports networks (RSNs), as of October 2026. Stream TV Pro costs $110 a month for the first year, and Stream TV VIP is $145 a month. Local NFL games are a different story: most air on broadcast channels, and national games may require other channels or apps. Here's how Spectrum's RSNs work, which plan fits which fan and how to check what's carried in your area.
What a regional sports network is
A regional sports network is a cable channel that holds the local TV rights to specific pro teams, usually in the NBA, MLB and NHL, plus some college sports. Games on an RSN are only shown inside that team's home territory, so the RSN you get depends on where you live. Spectrum owns two RSNs in Southern California:
- Spectrum SportsNet: home of the Los Angeles Lakers.
- Spectrum SportsNet LA: home of the Los Angeles Dodgers.
In other markets, Spectrum carries RSNs run by other companies where it has carriage deals. Which one you get, and its channel number, varies by ZIP code.

Stream TV Signature, Pro and VIP all include streaming apps such as Disney+, Hulu, ESPN Unlimited, Peacock Premium with ads, HBO Max Basic with ads, Paramount+ Essential and FOX One at no extra cost. Which plan you need for each sport
Local NBA, MLB and NHL games
These usually air on RSNs, so you'll want Stream TV Pro at minimum. For national league channels such as NFL Network, MLB Network, NBA TV and NHL Network, check Spectrum's Sports Pack add-on or Stream TV VIP. The exact lineup varies by address. Some teams also stream their games directly through team or league apps, so check your team's TV page before you upgrade.
Local NFL games
You don't need an RSN. Sunday afternoon games air on your local CBS and FOX stations, with prime-time games on NBC, ABC and ESPN. NFL RedZone and out-of-market games
NFL RedZone comes with Sports Pack, a $10-a-month add-on for Signature and Pro that's included with VIP. Sports Pack also adds MLB Strike Zone, Golf Channel, ESPNews, CBS Sports Network and more. College sports

How to check which RSN Spectrum carries in your area
- Open Spectrum's channel lineup tool and enter your full address or ZIP code.
- Choose Stream TV Pro and look for your team's network in the sports section.
- Confirm the channel is listed for your exact address, since RSN territories don't always match city limits.
- If your team's network isn't there, check whether the team offers its own streaming app before upgrading.
Do you need Spectrum TV at all?
If you only watch one local team, a team streaming app plus an antenna for local channels may cost less than a TV upgrade.
