Q3 2026 Broadband Scorecard: AT&T, Verizon and Comcast Results
By RSINC editorial team | Updated

AT&T and Verizon reported growth in their fiber and fixed-wireless connections in the third quarter of 2026, while Comcast reported domestic residential broadband losses. The figures measure different customer groups, so they should not be read as a single market-share ranking.

Reported changes
| Company | Q3 2026 change | What is counted |
|---|---|---|
| AT&T | +769,000 combined | 442,000 fiber and 327,000 fixed-wireless net additions |
| Verizon | +314,000 | 159,000 fixed-wireless and 155,000 fiber broadband net additions |
| Comcast | −144,000 | Domestic residential broadband customer net losses |
The figures above come from the companies’ third-quarter earnings materials. Net additions subtract losses from additions; they are not the number of new installations alone. A subscriber count and the number of locations a network passes are different measures.
AT&T: two access technologies
The 769,000 combined figure covers fiber and Internet Air fixed-wireless growth. It should not be described as 769,000 new fiber customers. Address eligibility, installation and upload performance differ between the two technologies.
Verizon: fiber and fixed wireless
Verizon’s reported 314,000 broadband net additions combine fiber and fixed wireless. Its earnings release also reports 17.4 million total broadband connections. That total is a customer-base measure, rather than the quarter’s additions.
Comcast: residential broadband pressure
Comcast reports 144,000 domestic residential broadband net losses. That result does not establish whether Xfinity is the best or worst option at any individual home. Local coverage, current pricing, reliability and service terms still need an address-specific comparison.
Why this is not a complete industry ranking
This October 27 snapshot covers the verified reports above. Further company releases can change the wider picture. Global satellite subscriber totals, domestic residential accounts and a provider’s combined fiber and fixed-wireless additions should not be mixed without explaining their scope.
What households can take from the results
Growing alternatives may give a household more choices, but a national net-additions figure is not an availability check. Compare the current Broadband Facts label, total monthly cost, equipment, upload performance and cancellation terms at the installation address.
