GFiber Coming to Grain Valley, Missouri: City Approves Underground Fiber Build
Updated

GFiber is heading east into Grain Valley, Missouri. The city's Board of Aldermen voted unanimously in October 2026 to approve an agreement that lets GFiber, the company formerly known as Google Fiber, build and house its fiber network in Grain Valley's public right-of-way, KSHB 41 reported. GFiber is already available nearby in Blue Springs, and the deal opens the door to another fast wired option for Grain Valley homes.
What Grain Valley approved
The agreement covers how GFiber can use city streets and easements for its network. GFiber will build the network underground, so residents can expect construction crews, marking flags and small digs in yards and along streets while the fiber goes in. Under the deal, GFiber will also pay the city 1% of its gross revenue from Grain Valley.
GFiber hasn't announced when service will start or which neighborhoods will come first. In other Kansas City-area suburbs, it has opened service in phases as each area is finished, so availability will likely arrive street by street rather than all at once. Our guide to when GFiber reaches your city explains how its rollouts usually work.
GFiber plans and prices
GFiber's plans page listed these prices on October 19, 2026:

- 3 Gig: $100 a month, with a Wi-Fi 7 router and an in-home setup consult if eligible
- 8 Gig: $150 a month, with a Wi-Fi 7 router, internet battery backup and an uptime guarantee
GFiber says its 1 Gig price hasn't changed since 2012. Its plans have no data caps, and you can use your own router. For a deeper look, see how much GFiber costs and our GFiber vs AT&T Fiber comparison.
