SportsNet Pittsburgh (SNP) is the regional TV home of the Pittsburgh Penguins and Pittsburgh Pirates. DIRECTV carries it on channel 659. On cable systems such as Xfinity, Verizon Fios, Armstrong and Breezeline, the main SNP channel number depends on your town, so check your lineup by ZIP code. Without cable, you can stream it with SNP 360 for $21.99 a month or $99.99 for six months.

Compare NHL Center Ice and ESPN Power Play for the separate out-of-market question. Xfinity subscribers should check the exact local TV plan before purchasing an app subscription.

SNP also runs a second channel, SNP+, for overlapping games and extra programming. Its numbers are easier to pin down, and they're listed below.

These numbers come from SportsNet Pittsburgh's own channel finder, which also lists smaller cable systems across Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia and New York.

Watching without cable: SNP 360

SNP 360 is SportsNet Pittsburgh's streaming app. It costs $21.99 billed monthly or $99.99 for a six-month pass. You need to live in SNP's home territory, which covers Pennsylvania, West Virginia, eastern Ohio and parts of New York and Maryland. The app works on iPhone, Android, Roku, Apple TV, Fire TV and Google TV.

If SNP is already in your TV package, you may be able to stream SNP 360 at no extra cost by signing in with your provider. Participating providers include Xfinity, Verizon Fios, Armstrong, Breezeline, DIRECTV, DIRECTV Stream, Spectrum and AT&T U-verse.

Penguins games this season

Use the Penguins’ current schedule to identify each game’s regional or national broadcaster. Exclusive national games are separate from the SNP feed. Out-of-market access also has local and national restrictions; compare our NHL package guide before buying another subscription.

Pirates games

SNP also covers the Pirates. Check the next season’s team schedule and your subscription’s actual coverage dates rather than assuming a six-month purchase now will include all of next spring and summer.

Which option costs less?

At the currently listed rates, six $21.99 monthly payments total $131.94, compared with $99.99 for the six-month pass. Compare the dates you need, renewal terms and any existing TV-provider access. A six-month purchase is not a full-year pass and does not automatically include every national game.

Test the supported app and location check before faceoff. Our streaming connection guide covers the home setup.
