What Channel Is NBC Sports California On?
By RSINC editorial team | Updated
NBC Sports California is listed on DIRECTV channel 698. It carries regional Sacramento Kings and San Jose Sharks coverage, with availability depending on your home territory, package and the particular game. Cable channel numbers can vary by city.
Start with the current team schedule, then check your TV or streaming plan. Our NBA on Peacock guide explains national NBA viewing, while this page focuses on the separate regional feed. Xfinity and other cable customers should use the guide attached to their own service address.
Where to find the feed
| Service | Channel or option | Before buying |
|---|---|---|
| DIRECTV | 698 | Confirm local sports eligibility and your package |
| Cable systems | Varies by address | Search the exact network name in the current guide |
| Peacock | NBC Sports California regional add-on | Check home ZIP, base plan and team-specific restrictions |
A channel being visible in a guide does not prove that every game is authorized. Also distinguish NBC Sports California from NBC Sports Bay Area and your local NBC station.
Kings and Sharks viewing
For Kings games, confirm whether the listing is regional or an exclusive national NBA telecast. A national Prime Video, ESPN, NBC or Peacock assignment can require a separate viewing route. For the Sharks, check the NHL game’s assigned regional or national feed instead of assuming all games follow the same channel.
When teams play at the same time, the provider may assign an alternate feed. Search by the matchup title and start time if the main channel carries another event. Do not guess an alternate channel number from a different provider.
Streaming on Peacock
Peacock offers the regional network as a monthly add-on for eligible base subscribers. Its NBC Sports California page requires a home ZIP check and notes that game blackouts can apply even in an area where the add-on can be purchased.
Confirm the combined base-plan and regional add-on charge at checkout. Published NBC Sports articles show conflicting historic add-on prices, so this guide does not present either as today’s confirmed rate. National Peacock sports access and the regional add-on should be checked separately.
Athletics fans should check the next season
Peacock’s current regional page lists Athletics coverage, but that listing is not a guarantee of a future season’s complete local schedule. Before paying for baseball viewing in 2027, check the Athletics’ announced broadcast plan and the service’s current team-specific availability.
Use the subscription you already have
First test an existing TV-provider login and the assigned live feed. If comparing a standalone add-on with a full TV package, include the national channels you actually watch and avoid paying twice for the same regional game. For another regional-network comparison, see NBC Sports Boston. Confirm device support and location access before the opening tip or faceoff.
