Starlink announced November 6 that Router 4 is now shipping with V4 kits in the United States and Canada on Residential 200 Mbps and Residential Max. The announcement names hardware bundles on those two plans. It does not announce an automatic replacement for every existing customer.

Our Starlink provider guide provides service context. ZIP screening is preliminary; service, sky visibility, equipment and plan eligibility must be checked at the actual address.

Router 4 first appeared in September. November’s news is that it is shipping in the named markets and plan bundles, rather than a first unveiling of the hardware.

Which orders include Router 4?

Starlink’s official November 6 announcement says: Router 4 is shipping with V4 kits in the US and Canada on Residential 200 Mbps and Residential Max. Check the selected plan and hardware in the current order before purchasing.

V4 kits refers to the customer hardware bundle. It is not a claim that a new generation of satellites has just entered service. The shipping announcement does not establish the same inclusion for every other plan, every country or every existing order.

Before submitting an order, check the hardware listed for your address and selected plan. For the service tier itself, see RSINC’s Residential Max explainer; a plan name and the router generation are separate parts of the purchase.

Can existing customers buy Router 4 separately?

The shipping announcement describes V4 kit bundles on the two named residential plans. It does not announce a general standalone router price or a universal upgrade program for existing subscribers.

The announcement does not settle a general router-only upgrade price, when existing customers will be able to order one, delivery timing or which additional markets come next. A trial participant’s reported price is not an official retail price and should not be used to budget an upgrade.

Existing subscribers should check their own account’s Shop and official support information for an applicable upgrade path. Do not assume the new-sign-up bundle means an older router will be replaced free of charge.

A Wi-Fi change, not a larger satellite speed allowance

Starlink describes Router 4 as using a Wi-Fi 7 chipset. Its claimed indoor coverage is up to 3,500 square feet; walls, placement and the home’s layout mean that is not a coverage guarantee in every house. A better local Wi-Fi connection does not increase the satellite plan’s speed allowance.

For the detailed hardware comparison, Ethernet and mesh questions, use the existing Router 4 versus older routers guide. This rollout update does not replace that specifications page.

What to check when the kit arrives

Confirm that the delivered equipment matches the order and follow the instructions for that kit. RSINC’s Standard 4 router setup guide provides related setup context; the Router 4 comparison remains the place to assess whether the local-network changes matter for your home. Do not assume a new router alone solves a satellite-side bottleneck.
