Stay safe on public Wi-Fi

The secure "optimum" network encrypts traffic between your device and the hotspot, which makes it the better choice. On any public network, avoid entering sensitive information on sites that don't use HTTPS, keep your device updated, and consider a VPN. Optimum also sells McAfee security protection for up to 20 devices as an add-on.

Troubleshooting

  • Wrong password? Reset your Optimum ID password at optimum.net. Your hotspot login is your Optimum ID, not your home Wi-Fi password. To change your home network password, see how to change your Optimum WiFi password.
  • Device limit reached? Remove old devices at optimum.net/internet/manage-devices.
  • Android won't connect to "optimum"? Re-check the PEAP/TTLS and domain settings above, or use "optimumwifi" instead.
