Comcast’s Proposed NBCUniversal Split: What Xfinity Customers Should Check
By RSINC editorial team | Updated

Comcast has proposed separating NBCUniversal and Sky into an independent public company. Its June 29 announcement describes a transaction expected to take about a year, subject to approvals and other conditions. It is an announced plan, not a completed separation.
For current service comparisons, see the Xfinity provider guide and Xfinity TV plans. Base a service decision on your current agreement and bill rather than assuming a corporate announcement changes them immediately.
What Comcast announced
The proposed media company would include NBCUniversal and Sky, with assets such as NBC, Telemundo, Universal, Peacock and Bravo. Comcast would focus on its connectivity and technology businesses. The announcement anticipates distributing shares through a spin-off to shareholders.
Completion depends on conditions including final board approval, regulatory approvals, financing and tax opinions. Comcast says the transaction’s completion, terms and timing are not assured. Treat the timetable as an expectation rather than a fixed customer-service deadline.
What it means for your Xfinity account
The announcement does not establish a new monthly internet price, a replacement router requirement or a date when every customer must change accounts. Continue using the established Xfinity account and support channels for your current service.
If you receive a notice about a price, billing provider or service term, read the account-specific notice and check it against your existing agreement. A corporate separation and an individual service-contract change are separate events.
Peacock and bundles
Peacock is included in the announced NBCUniversal portfolio. That does not by itself confirm how every Xfinity bundle or promotional Peacock benefit will work after a future transaction. Check the terms of the benefit attached to your account and its renewal or expiration date.

What to save and recheck
- Your current internet and TV order summary.
- The end date of any promotional rate.
- Equipment rental and return terms.
- Streaming-benefit eligibility and expiration.
- Any later official notice changing your service.
Customers do not need to make a new subscription purchase solely because the proposed separation was announced. Recheck official transaction updates and your provider’s account notices as the plan progresses.
