Comcast Washington Layoffs: What the Notice Means for Xfinity Customers

Comcast’s Washington layoff notice describes approximately 159 permanent job cuts, with separations expected to begin December 31, 2026. Washington’s Employment Security Department received the notice on October 29. The document concerns staffing changes; it does not establish a new price, service plan or outage schedule for Xfinity customers.

What Comcast’s original notice confirms

The notice lists ten regional-office addresses across nine Washington cities, including two separate Everett locations, plus employees working virtually. The other cities are Bellingham, Bremerton, Olympia, Puyallup, Redmond, Seattle, Spokane and Vancouver. That is why a report counting cities can say nine while a report counting office addresses says ten. The letter does not allocate the 159 affected positions among those offices.

Comcast says the affected work is not being relocated or contracted out as a result of this action. The company also says it plans more than 1,100 new positions across the company and will consider affected employees for open roles. The notice describes severance for employees who do not transfer to another role and remain through their scheduled separation date. Those are company statements in the notice, not a promise that every affected person will receive another job.

What this means for your internet service

A staffing notice alone cannot tell you whether your home will have an outage, an installation delay or a different bill. Do not treat it as evidence that your current plan is ending. Check your account notices and the provider’s current support information for changes that actually apply to your service.

If your connection fails, check the current outage information and troubleshoot the connection rather than assuming the layoff caused it. Our Xfinity outage guide explains useful checks. For a scheduled installation, ask the provider to confirm your appointment and retain its written confirmation.

Comparing alternatives without guessing coverage

If your promotion is ending or service no longer meets your needs, compare the providers that accept your exact address. A ZIP result is a screening step, not confirmation that every home can order a listed plan. Review the total monthly charge, equipment, installation, data terms and any promotion’s expiration.

Wired, fixed-wireless, mobile and satellite options have different requirements. For Starlink or Viasat, check address eligibility, sky access, equipment and current plan terms; satellite speeds and uninterrupted service are not guaranteed. For an AT&T air-card or mobile-data option, check signal, compatible equipment and eligible mobile plans. That is different from AT&T Internet Air. Avoid choosing a provider solely from a statewide speed or price ranking.

See Xfinity and T-Mobile Home Internet when comparing connection types, and confirm current offers at your own address.
