AT&T vs Breezeline Internet: Price, Speed and Which to Pick

Updated

AT&T and Breezeline only go head to head in a few places. Breezeline sells cable and fiber internet in 12 states, and just three of them, Ohio, Florida and South Carolina, sit inside AT&T’s home internet territory. That puts the real overlap in Breezeline’s Cleveland and Columbus service areas, Miami Beach and Aiken, S.C. Where you can get both, Breezeline is far cheaper. On October 12, 2026, Breezeline’s 1 Gig plan was $45/mo with the modem included and that price locked for five years, while AT&T Fiber’s 1 Gig plan was $70/mo for the first year and $80/mo after that, both with AutoPay.

AT&T wins on upload speed and top speed. Every AT&T Fiber plan uploads as fast as it downloads, and AT&T sells up to 5 Gig. On most Breezeline cable lines, the 1 Gig plan uploads at 50 Mbps. Pick Breezeline if price and a long, predictable rate matter most. Pick AT&T Fiber if you work from home on video calls, back up large files to the cloud, want more than 1 Gig, or already pay for an AT&T unlimited phone plan, which takes $15 to $25 a month off fiber and closes much of the gap.

Where AT&T and Breezeline overlap

Breezeline’s own location pages list service in Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia. AT&T Fiber is sold in 21 states, mostly across the South, Midwest and West. The two maps meet in:

  • Ohio: Breezeline’s Cleveland and Columbus systems, which it took over from WOW!, run through neighborhoods where AT&T is the local phone and fiber company.
  • Florida: Breezeline’s Miami Beach area.
  • South Carolina: Breezeline’s Aiken area.

Even inside those areas, AT&T Fiber reaches some streets and not others, so check your exact address. In Breezeline’s Northeast and Mid-Atlantic towns, such as Concord, N.H., Altoona, Pa., Cumberland, Md., or Morgantown, W.Va., AT&T does not sell fiber. There the only AT&T home option, where it is offered, is AT&T Internet Air, its 5G home internet service, which we compare further down.

Plans and prices as of October 12, 2026

We pulled AT&T’s prices from its fiber plans page and offer terms, and Breezeline’s from its internet page and its current promotional terms, all on October 12, 2026. Prices include each company’s $10 AutoPay and paperless billing discount and leave out taxes and fees.

Internet 50005,000/5,000 Mbps$110/mo$125/mo$85/mo

AT&T’s first-year prices come from a new-customer discount of $5 a month on 500 Mbps, $10 on 1 Gig and $15 on 5 Gig. When it ends after 12 months, the plan moves to AT&T’s regular rate, which works out to the “months 13+” column at today’s prices. The phone-plan discount ($15 a month on 300 or 500 Mbps, $20 on 1 Gig, $25 on 5 Gig) keeps going as long as you keep an eligible AT&T unlimited plan. The full $10 AutoPay discount needs a bank account or AT&T’s own credit card; it drops to $5 with a debit card and disappears with other credit cards.

When a Breezeline intro period ends, both the plan and the modem lease move to Breezeline’s then-current retail price for your area. Breezeline does not publish one national regular price, so ask for the rate card for your address before you order if you plan to stay past the intro period. The intro prices are for new residential customers with no existing Breezeline account, and the $10 AutoPay and EcoSave discount only applies to payments from a checking or savings account.

What two and five years really cost

Monthly prices hide the biggest difference between these two: how long the low price lasts. Here is what you would pay for internet service alone at October 12, 2026 prices, with AutoPay, before taxes, fees and any installation charge. For AT&T we assume today’s regular rate holds after month 12. For Breezeline’s 500 Mbps and 1 Gig plans, the five-year total is fully covered by the 60-month price lock.

Matchup2-year total5-year total
AT&T Fiber 1000 (no AT&T phone plan)$1,800$4,680
AT&T Fiber 1000 with AT&T unlimited phone plan$1,320$3,480
Breezeline 1 Gig$1,080$2,700
AT&T Fiber 500 (no AT&T phone plan)$1,500$3,840
AT&T Fiber 500 with AT&T unlimited phone plan$1,140$2,940
Breezeline Internet 500$960$2,400
AT&T Fiber 300 (no AT&T phone plan)$1,200$3,000
Breezeline Internet 200$720Not calculated (rate after month 24 not published)

At the 1 Gig level, Breezeline saves about $720 over two years and nearly $2,000 over five against AT&T’s standalone price. AT&T can still make sense for a household that already pays AT&T for phones, needs fast uploads, or simply wants fiber and plans to move within a couple of years. AT&T’s $100 reward card on 1 Gig and 5 Gig orders and Breezeline’s gift cards trim the first year on both sides, as covered below.

Upload speeds, data caps and equipment

Uploads are AT&T’s clearest edge. AT&T Fiber uploads at the same speed it downloads on every plan. Breezeline’s cable plans upload at 10 to 50 Mbps up to 1 Gig. That is enough for a couple of HD video calls, but a 20 GB photo or video backup takes close to an hour at 50 Mbps and under three minutes at 1 Gig. If Breezeline has fiber to the home at your address, its uploads match its downloads too, so ask which kind of line you would get.

Neither caps your data. AT&T says its fiber plans have no data caps, and Breezeline’s network management disclosure says it has not set a monthly data usage cap.

Equipment costs favor AT&T over the long run. AT&T includes a Wi-Fi gateway and charges no gateway fee. It also sells an optional All-Fi Pro add-on with Wi-Fi 7, mesh extenders and security tools. Breezeline includes its modem or gateway free for 24 or 60 months depending on the plan, then charges its current lease rate. A Wi-Fi extender is $5 a month. If you would rather use your own gear, see our list of Breezeline-compatible modems and routers.

Setup is easier with Breezeline. Breezeline ships a free self-install kit, and online orders skip its installation fee. Our guide to self-installing Breezeline internet walks through it. AT&T Fiber usually needs a technician visit of four to six hours, especially when copper lines are being replaced with fiber, and AT&T says an installation fee of up to $99 may apply.

No contracts on either side. Both are month to month. Breezeline adds a 30-day money-back guarantee for new internet customers.

Promotions running in October 2026

  • AT&T: A $100 Visa reward card for new AT&T Fiber customers who order Internet 1000 or 5000 online. AT&T’s terms say the offer ends October 19, 2026, and the card comes after 90 days of paid service.
  • Breezeline: A $50 gift card with 500 Mbps, $100 with 1 Gig, or $150 with 2.5 Gig, emailed once you have been a customer in good standing for 120 days. Breezeline’s site also advertises a free Unlimited mobile line for a year with select plans and 10% off for students.

AT&T Internet Air vs Breezeline

Where AT&T Fiber does not reach, AT&T may offer Internet Air, a 5G home internet service. It costs $55/mo with AutoPay and paperless billing, has no data caps, and sets itself up with an included All-Fi Hub. AT&T says typical speeds run 90 to 300 Mbps down and 8 to 30 Mbps up. AT&T also warns it may slow speeds when the network is busy.

Against that, Breezeline’s 200 Mbps cable plan is $30/mo for two years, and its 500 Mbps plan is $40/mo for five. A wired connection is usually steadier than 5G in the evening, too. Internet Air makes more sense when Breezeline does not wire your street or you want a plug-in service you can set up in minutes. Our T-Mobile Home Internet vs Breezeline comparison covers the 5G-vs-cable tradeoff in more depth.

Which should you pick?

  • Cheapest reliable internet for a household of two to four: Breezeline Internet 200 at $30/mo or Internet 500 at $40/mo locked for five years.
  • Working from home with lots of video calls or large uploads: AT&T Fiber 300 or 500, unless Breezeline has fiber to your home.
  • Already on an AT&T unlimited phone plan: AT&T Fiber 300 at $35/mo is close to Breezeline 200’s $30/mo and gives you 300/300 Mbps.
  • Want the fastest plan available: AT&T Fiber 5000. Breezeline tops out at 2.5 Gig where available.
  • Staying put for five years and want no surprise price jumps: Breezeline 500 Mbps or 1 Gig.
  • On a tight budget with public assistance: Breezeline Internet Assist offers 50/10 Mbps to qualifying households; see how to get low-income internet through Breezeline.

No AT&T or Breezeline at your address?

Outside town limits in Ohio, South Carolina and Breezeline’s rural New England and Appalachian service areas, neither company may reach you. Satellite is the usual fallback. As of our October 2026 checks, Starlink Residential starts at $55/mo for 100 Mbps, with 200 Mbps at $85/mo and Residential Max at $130/mo. Viasat plans start at $39.99/mo for the first 12 months plus a $15/mo equipment lease. Customers who order Viasat through RSINC are guaranteed at least 80 Mbps download and 3–5 Mbps upload, and the Unleashed plan often runs around 180 Mbps. Hughesnet plans start at $39.99/mo for 12 months, with its Elite plan reaching up to 100 Mbps.

AT&T vs Breezeline FAQ

Is AT&T or Breezeline cheaper?

Breezeline, at every comparable speed. On October 12, 2026, Breezeline’s 1 Gig plan was $45/mo for 60 months with the modem included, against $70/mo for 12 months and then $80/mo for AT&T Fiber 1000, both with AutoPay. An AT&T unlimited phone plan cuts AT&T’s price to $50/mo for the first year.

Is Breezeline fiber or cable?

Both. In most markets Breezeline runs fiber through its network but connects homes with coaxial cable. In some markets it has fiber all the way to the home, with matching upload and download speeds. AT&T Fiber is fiber to the home everywhere it is sold.

Do AT&T or Breezeline have data caps?

No. AT&T Fiber and AT&T Internet Air have no data caps, and Breezeline has not set a monthly data usage cap.

What happens when Breezeline’s intro price ends?

After 24 months on 100 Mbps, 200 Mbps or 1.5 Gig, or 60 months on 500 Mbps, 1 Gig or 2.5 Gig, your plan and modem lease move to Breezeline’s then-current retail price for your area. Ask for your local rate card before you sign up.

Did WOW! become Breezeline?

In Ohio, yes. Breezeline took over WOW!’s Cleveland and Columbus systems, so former WOW! customers there are now Breezeline customers. WOW! customers in other states were not part of that deal.
