AT&T Data Breach Settlement: Payment Status and Claim Limits
By RSINC editorial team | Updated

The court-authorized AT&T Data Incident Settlement website's October 30, 2026 update says the court granted final approval on October 2. It also says payments have not been issued and are not expected in 2026. Read that dated update before relying on an older article predicting a December payment.
Claims are closed; approval is not a payment date
The administrator lists December 18, 2025 as the claim deadline and says new claims can no longer be submitted. Its current update says valid claimants need not take further action. Payment must wait until the settlement becomes effective, after appeal time and any post-judgment motions or appeals are resolved.
That update does not give an individual transfer date or promise a check in a particular month of 2027. A final-approval announcement and a completed payment are different events. Keep your original claim confirmation and use the latest administrator update for the status of this settlement.
Why the maximum amount is not everyone's payment
The official FAQ describes an AT&T 1 documented-loss path of up to $5,000 and an AT&T 2 documented-loss path of up to $2,500. These depend on qualifying losses fairly traceable to the applicable incident and supporting documentation. The FAQ also describes separate tier-based payment paths.
Those figures are limits for particular payment categories, not an award promised to every AT&T customer. Do not infer your own eligibility or amount from a headline, compare it directly with a different claimant's situation or assume that two reimbursement categories can be added without applying the settlement rules.
Use the administrator for claim status
The court-authorized website is telecomdatasettlement.com, administered by Kroll Settlement Administration. Open it independently when reviewing a message about this case. Check the case name and the dated update rather than trusting a social-media post that promises a payment date.
Keep correspondence, the claim confirmation and any reference number in a safe place. Avoid posting those records or other personal details publicly. If a message asks for an unexpected fee, password or banking information, verify its legitimacy through an independently opened official channel before responding.
Keep this case separate from other breaches and your internet bill
Our email breach-checking guide covers a different security question. Our Comcast/Xfinity settlement guide concerns another case. Neither determines an AT&T claim or creates a new deadline for this settlement.
RSINC compares internet services; it does not file, approve, track or pay these claims. The RSINC telephone number below is for internet-provider comparisons. Use the court-authorized administrator for settlement questions. If you separately compare a replacement internet plan, confirm address availability, equipment, installation and the current written offer.
