Does YouTube TV Have a Free Trial? Terms and Cancellation
By RSINC editorial team | Updated

YouTube TV offers trials to eligible first-time subscribers. The trial length depends on the plan and offer; check the duration shown for your account rather than assuming a fixed number of free days. At the November 3 review, Google's help page says a trial converts automatically to the selected paid plan unless canceled.
Check the offer before starting
The trial covers the channels in your chosen plan. Unlimited DVR and up to five additional household accounts are included. Extra-network trials have separate enrollment and billing. Previous trial use can make an account ineligible. Google requires a card authorization and does not support prepaid credit cards.
Write down the plan, trial end date and renewal price shown before confirming signup. This guide does not quote an unverified monthly price or promise a particular trial duration. Keep a copy of the offer and inspect any separately selected add-ons. Our YouTube TV channel guide can help organize the channels you want to check.
Find the trial end date and cancel
In the YouTube TV app, open your profile, then Settings and Membership to see the trial days remaining. To cancel on Android or the web, use Membership, Manage, Cancel membership and the final Cancel confirmation. Google's current instructions say access continues through the trial's end after cancellation.
Set your own reminder before that date and confirm the account actually shows cancellation. Closing the app or deciding not to watch does not document cancellation. Check add-ons separately. Use your signed-in membership page to resolve a discrepancy between an offer screenshot and the current billing date.
Understand a card hold and your recordings
Google describes a temporary authorization when the trial begins. Its removal timing can depend on the financial institution. Check the transaction and membership status before assuming that any entry is a subscription bill. Google's cancellation help says recordings expire 21 days after the payment period ends and returning members may not recover prior recordings.
Do not use a trial library as a permanent archive. If a recording matters, consider its availability within the active membership and the cancellation terms. Keep billing questions separate from whether a program was successfully recorded.
Test the connection where you watch
Make a short list of the local channels and programs you actually need. Test the devices you use, at the times your household normally watches. Compare one screen with several screens, and note buffering or Wi-Fi problems. Our streaming speed guide and YouTube TV considerations provide related checks.
If shopping for internet, request offers for the full street and unit address. ZIP screening is preliminary. Compare equipment, installation, recurring charges and plan eligibility separately from a television trial.
