Which Airlines Have Starlink Wi-Fi? Holiday Travel Guide
Updated

Starlink Wi-Fi is now flying on several major airlines, and on the big U.S. carriers it is free if you join the airline’s loyalty program. As of mid-October 2026, United, Alaska Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines and Southwest all have Starlink-equipped planes in the air, while American Airlines has announced Starlink with installs starting in early 2027. Internationally, Qatar Airways, Air France and WestJet are among the airlines offering it. No airline has finished its rollout yet, so whether you get Starlink still depends on the plane assigned to your flight.

Counts come from each airline’s own newsroom or website on the dates shown. Rollouts are moving fast, so expect the numbers to be higher by the time you fly.
United
United has more Starlink-equipped planes than any other airline. On Oct. 15, 2026, it said Starlink was live on more than 635 United and United Express aircraft and on nearly half its daily departures, with about 20 more planes added each week and the full fleet due by the end of 2027. United’s terms say there is no charge to connect on Starlink aircraft, but you need to be a MileagePlus member or sign up during the flight, and joining is free. Flights without Starlink still use United’s older, paid Wi-Fi.
To check a specific flight, United launched StarlinkTracker.United.com. Enter your travel date and flight number within three days of departure. United also flags Starlink flights in pre-flight emails and texts and on the flight status page in its app. Through Oct. 22, 2026, United is also running a status match for eligible Delta and American elite members.
Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines
Alaska and Hawaiian share one loyalty program, Atmos Rewards, and Starlink Wi-Fi is complimentary for Atmos members thanks to T-Mobile. In June 2026 the airlines said about 150 aircraft were equipped, including the whole regional fleet. Hawaiian offers it on all aircraft flying to and from Hawai‘i. You need to be an Atmos member to connect, and you can join for free before or during the flight.
Southwest
Southwest’s first Starlink plane took off in June 2026. Southwest says its Wi-Fi, including Starlink-enabled Wi-Fi, is free for Rapid Rewards members thanks to T-Mobile. Because the rollout started recently, many Southwest flights this holiday season will still use the older system.
American Airlines
American announced in October 2026 that it will put Starlink on every mainline jet, more than 1,000 aircraft, with installations starting in early 2027. It has not said whether it will be free, so do not count on Starlink on American this year.

How to tell if your flight has Starlink
- Check the airline’s app or flight status page a day or two before departure. United adds Starlink to the flight status page.
- On United, use StarlinkTracker.United.com within three days of the flight.
- Join the airline’s free loyalty program before you fly so you can connect right away.
- Remember that aircraft swaps happen. United says assignments are usually confirmed within 24 hours of departure.
What Starlink Wi-Fi is like on a plane
Starlink uses satellites in low orbit, so the connection has much lower delay than older airline satellite Wi-Fi. That is why airlines advertise streaming and video calls rather than just email. The same network powers Starlink home internet. If your flight uses Viasat instead, see which airlines use Viasat Wi-Fi, and for apps like TikTok in the air, see will TikTok work on airplane Wi-Fi.
