Cable One Is Buying Vyve Broadband: What Vyve Customers Should Know About Sparklight

If you get internet, TV or phone service from Vyve Broadband, you may have heard that Cable One, the company behind the Sparklight brand, is taking over the rest of Vyve's parent company. The deal was expected to close on October 1, 2026. As of September 30, Cable One hadn't announced that it was complete, so treat the timing as expected, not final.

Below we cover what's happening, what's likely to stay the same for now, what changed when Cable One absorbed another provider, and a few things worth doing today.

Who are Vyve Broadband and Cable One?

Vyve Broadband serves small towns and rural communities in the Southeast, Mid-South and Northwest. Its service-area list covers Alabama, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Georgia, Idaho, Kansas, Louisiana, Nebraska, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Washington and Wyoming. Vyve offers cable internet (up to multi-gig speeds in some areas), TV and digital phone service, plus business services.

Cable One is a Phoenix-based broadband company that serves more than 1 million homes and businesses in 24 states, mostly under the Sparklight name. It has owned a minority stake in Vyve's parent since 2020. With full ownership, Vyve's network would become part of Cable One's footprint.

Will my Vyve service, price or plan change?

Not right away, as far as anyone has announced. Cable One hasn't said when or whether Vyve plans will move to Sparklight plans or pricing. When a provider changes owners, the network, equipment and local crews usually carry on as before, and billing changes tend to come later with advance notice.

A few practical points:

• Keep paying your Vyve bill as usual until you get official notice of a change from Vyve or Sparklight.
• Promotional rates and contracts should follow the terms you signed up under. If you're close to the end of a promo, check what your regular rate will be.
• Equipment: Keep your current modem or gateway unless you're told to swap it.
• Customer service: Use the Vyve contact details on your bill for now.

What happened when Hargray became Sparklight

We don't know Cable One's plans for Vyve, but an earlier acquisition gives a hint of how a transition can work. Cable One bought Hargray, a Southeast provider whose markets include coastal South Carolina and Georgia, in 2021. Hargray announced it was rebranding as Sparklight in August 2024, about three years later.

When Hargray customers moved to Sparklight billing, Sparklight's support pages told them to expect:

• A new 16-digit account number to use for payments and online access
• A new Sparklight online account and the MySparklight app in place of the old login
• A reminder to check Auto Pay settings and update any bank bill-pay or credit card autopay with the new account number
• New Sparklight logins for TV streaming apps after a set cutover date

If Vyve customers eventually go through a similar move, the same checklist will probably apply. Cable One hasn't announced a rebrand or billing migration for Vyve, though.

Watch out for scams during the changeover

Ownership changes are a favorite hook for scammers. You might get a call, text or email claiming you must "update your account" or pay a "transfer fee" to keep your internet on. Be skeptical:

• Don't give card or bank details to anyone who contacts you out of the blue.
• If a message seems urgent, hang up and call the number printed on your Vyve bill.
• Legitimate billing changes usually arrive by mail or on your statement well ahead of time.

Things to do now

• Save a copy of your latest bill. Note your plan, speed, monthly price, promo end date and equipment charges.
• Write down your account number and the email address on your account.
• Review autopay. Know where it's set up (Vyve account, your bank or a card) so you can update it quickly if the account number ever changes.
• Run a speed test over a wired connection to know what you're getting today.
• Compare your options. If you're out of contract, a change like this is a good time to see whether fiber, fixed wireless or satellite internet is available at your address.

Should Vyve customers switch providers?

There's no reason to switch just because of the ownership change. Cable One says the deal is meant to grow its footprint and gain efficiencies from scale. If you're happy with your speed and price, it's reasonable to wait and see.

It may be worth shopping around if:

• Your promotional rate is ending soon and the regular price is a jump.
• A fiber provider has recently started building in your town.
• Your upload speeds or reliability don't keep up with work-from-home or streaming needs.

Many small towns have more choices than they used to, including 5G home internet and low-orbit satellite service. Availability depends on your exact address.
