Verizon to Take On Ripple Fiber Customers After Eaton Fiber Deal
Updated · ~6 min read
On July 29, 2026, Bain Capital and Tillman Global Holdings announced a $1.5 billion investment in Eaton Fiber. The companies said the investment fully funds Eaton Fiber’s planned acquisition of Ripple Fiber and supports additional network construction.
The announcement also says Verizon will acquire Ripple Fiber’s existing customers after the transaction closes. Those customers are expected to transition to Verizon’s fiber broadband platform over time, with uninterrupted service during the transition. The transaction is expected to close before the end of 2026, subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals.
Bain Capital’s release provides the controlling public details about the investment, network roles, customer transfer, and expected closing period.

The transaction builds on a commercial agreement announced by Eaton Fiber and Verizon in October 2025. Under that model, Eaton Fiber handles the capital-intensive network work while Verizon is the exclusive retail provider for residential and small-business services on the network, including sales, marketing, and end-user customer service.
The companies say acquisitions and new construction are intended to bring Verizon-branded fiber service to more than one million locations outside Verizon’s current fiber footprint over the next few years. That is a buildout goal, not an address-level availability guarantee.
Where the announced network changes apply
Verizon will also acquire a small portion of Ripple Fiber’s network and related assets adjacent to or partly inside Verizon’s existing fiber footprint in North Carolina and South Carolina. Eaton Fiber will acquire Ripple Fiber, and Ripple’s existing shareholders Platform Investment Partners and KLT will remain investors in the Eaton Fiber platform alongside Tillman and Bain Capital.
What Ripple Fiber customers should watch
- Official notice: rely on account-specific communication from Ripple Fiber or Verizon for the transition date and required action.
- Billing: look for changes to account numbers, payment portals, Auto Pay, billing dates, taxes, and fees.
- Plan terms: save the current speed tier, price, promotion end date, and service agreement before the account moves.
- Equipment: do not replace or return an ONT, gateway, or router unless the provider gives instructions.
- Support: keep using the current provider’s contact path until an official notice gives a new one.
The public announcement does not provide household-by-household prices, migration dates, equipment instructions, or new plan terms. Customers should avoid making those assumptions before receiving a notice.
What it means for shoppers
A wholesale fiber-optic network with Verizon as the retail provider may extend Verizon service beyond its traditional wireline territory. The actual competitive effect will depend on where construction reaches, what plans are offered, and which other providers serve each address.
