Verizon 1-Gig 5G Home Internet on mmWave: Who Gets It

Verizon's latest fixed-wireless plans use high-band millimeter-wave spectrum to expand its 1-Gig home-internet opportunity. This is an address-specific wireless service, so a rollout announcement is not confirmation that every Verizon household can order it.

Start with our Verizon provider guide and fiber versus 5G home internet comparison. Our provider directory can help identify other connections to check at the same address.

What was announced at the October earnings call

Light Reading's October 26 account of Verizon's earnings call says the company plans to scale a 1-Gig mmWave fixed-wireless offering beginning this quarter and through 2027. The report attributes to CEO Dan Schulman a medium-term opportunity to reach an additional 10–15 million premises with fixed wireless alongside the company's fiber expansion.

Those are rollout plans and coverage targets, not a published list of homes ready for installation. We have not verified a new nationwide price or a complete city-by-city launch list for this expansion. Check Verizon's own address checker and written offer before making a purchase.

Up to 1 Gig does not mean symmetric fiber speeds

Verizon's official network-performance disclosure lists its 5G Home Ultimate high-band/mmWave tier at up to 1 Gig, with an expected download range of 300–1,000 Mbps, upload range of 25–75 Mbps and latency of 35–55 milliseconds. These are the published ranges for that listed tier, not a guarantee for every new installation or future rollout configuration.

The same disclosure lists different performance for mid-band service. Confirm the exact tier offered at your address and its Broadband Facts label. The words 5G Home Ultimate alone should not be taken as a promise that your home receives the mmWave version.

Compare the offer with Fios and other service

Delivery method5G Home is fixed wireless; Fios is a separate fiber service. Confirm which product is being sold.

What to do before switching

Save the order summary and any trial or return terms. Confirm the service can be installed at your property and test the connection before canceling an existing line if you need continuous access. Check the return deadline and any charge for equipment that is not returned.
