Starlink V5 Is Here: What the Next-Generation Starlink Kit Changes
Updated

Starlink V5 is Starlink's next-generation home internet kit. Starlink says it's now available in select areas, with more areas to follow as production ramps up. The new dish is much smaller and lighter than the Starlink V4, and it uses roughly half the power. It isn't a speed upgrade, though: Starlink lists V5 at 375+ Mbps peak download, compared with 400+ Mbps for V4.
Here's what's in the V5 kit, how it compares with V4, what Starlink hasn't announced yet, and how it stacks up against Viasat and HughesNet. Specifications can change; confirm the kit shown for your address before ordering.

It can mesh with Starlink's Gen 2 Router, Router 3, other Router Minis and the Starlink Mini kit. If you have a larger home, Starlink's Wi-Fi 7 Router 4 is a separate product that covers up to 3,500 sq ft.
Who can get Starlink V5?
Starlink says V5 is "currently available in select areas" and will expand "as production ramps." It hasn't published a list of regions or a launch date. Starlink chooses which kit ships to your address, so you might still be offered the V4. Starlink also says V5 is not intended for in-motion use. If you need internet on the road, look at the Starlink Mini instead.
On X, Starlink has also said V5 hardware will be built into Tesla's Cybercab. That's a vehicle integration, not the home kit.
What Starlink hasn't announced
