Starlink in New Brunswick: What Rural Households Need to Know in 2026

This guide covers what matters for Starlink in New Brunswick in 2026: how well rural areas are covered, which public programs apply, how to install for local weather, and what else is available.

Rural and remote coverage

Rural New Brunswick, including forested inland areas and coastal communities, still has pockets without high-speed ground-based internet.

Provincial and local programs

We didn't find a New Brunswick consumer satellite rebate as of October 2026. Rogers says customers in Atlantic Canada on any 5G+ plan get Rogers Satellite at no extra cost for up to 24 months (announced Jan. 28, 2026).

Federal funding

The federal Universal Broadband Fund is a $3.225 billion program to bring 50/10 Mbps internet to 98% of Canadian households by the end of 2026 and 100% by 2030. As of May 2026, ISED reports that 97.4% of all households, and 87.4% of rural households, had access to 50/10 Mbps service. The fund pays for infrastructure projects, not rebates for individual households.

Installing for Atlantic storms

Coastal storms and heavy, wet snow are common. Mount the dish securely, seal cable entry points, and keep a backup power plan for outages.

Rogers Satellite for phones

Rogers Satellite runs on Starlink and connects compatible, unlocked phones where there's no cell coverage. It's included on new Rogers 5G+ plans. Otherwise it costs $10/month for 12 months for existing Rogers customers, or $15/month for anyone else, including customers of other carriers. Check Rogers' coverage information to confirm service in your area.

Alternatives to Starlink in New Brunswick

Telesat, a Canadian company, is building a low-Earth-orbit network called Lightspeed. Ottawa has a $600 million agreement to buy Lightspeed capacity for internet providers serving hard-to-reach communities. We couldn't confirm a direct-to-household Lightspeed offer as of October 2026.
