Starlink's Free Hardware Upgrade: Eligibility and Old-Kit Cutoff
By RSINC editorial team | Updated

Starlink's Standard Circular Kit Replacement support notice offers an invited group of early customers a new Standard kit at no cost. Eligibility combines being among its first customers with still using a first-generation kit. An email invitation identifies eligible accounts; the notice supplies no exact signup-date cutoff, regional list or deadline.
What the replacement includes
The listed Standard 4X package includes a dish with kickstand, Router 3, power supply and cables. A mount is free, and eligible customers can opt for free installation. Do not reuse the old circular kit's cable, router or mast; follow the replacement instructions for the supplied equipment.
Plan around the old kit's cutoff
The old kit is deactivated when the replacement comes online or 14 days after delivery, whichever happens first. It cannot then be transferred and does not have to be returned.
Before accepting delivery, check when you can install and test the replacement. If the timing is difficult, ask Starlink support about your account before assuming that leaving the new box unopened will keep the old connection working. Keep the delivery date, invitation and kit details together so you can explain the situation clearly.
Check your account before acting
Open your Starlink account independently to review an invitation. Ask support to confirm an unexpected message rather than sending account details to an unfamiliar contact. Do not buy a replacement or accessory solely because another customer's invitation looks similar to yours.
Review the offer attached to your own account for any service or installation conditions. This hardware notice is not a promise of a lower monthly bill, a new service plan or faster speeds at every location. For broader context, see our Starlink plans and speeds guide and verify the current account terms before changing service.
Prepare the location and test the connection
Decide where the replacement will sit, where its cable will enter the building and how you will reach power safely. Ask the installer about the proposed position before work begins. Check the current installation instructions and sky view rather than assuming the old mounting arrangement fits the new equipment.
After setup, test the devices and applications you actually use. Record any obstruction or connection messages for support. If you are comparing another service, our Starlink and fiber comparison provides questions to ask; availability still needs a complete-address check.
