The Virginia build is part of Spectrum's national rural construction initiative, which Spectrum says is backed by more than $7 billion in private investment and will add 100,000+ miles of fiber to reach more than 1.7 million new locations with symmetrical and multi-gigabit speeds. A similar build just wrapped up in Butler and Warren counties, Ohio, where Spectrum says fiber speeds reach up to 2 Gbps.
What to do if you're in the new area
- Check your exact address. "Completed" means the planned locations are built, not that every home in the three localities is covered.
- Compare with what you have. If you're on satellite, DSL or a hotspot, wired fiber will usually mean faster uploads and lower lag.
- Time the switch. Schedule the Spectrum install before you cancel satellite, and check your current contract for early termination fees.
Options if wired service doesn't reach you
If your address is outside the new Spectrum footprint, check fixed wireless and satellite availability before choosing a plan. Starlink can be a lower-latency satellite option; Viasat and Hughesnet offer alternatives. For eligible orders through RSINC, Viasat's minimum is 80 Mbps download and 3–5 Mbps upload. Check eligibility and confirm current prices, equipment costs and promotional terms at your exact address before ordering.
