discovery+ now costs $6.99 a month with ads or $11.99 a month without ads in the United States, before tax. New subscriptions changed on October 13, 2026. Existing subscribers billed by discovery+ or an app store move to the new price on their first billing date on or after November 12.

When current subscribers pay more
If discovery+ or an app store bills you directly, the new price starts with your first billing date on or after November 12, 2026. A promotional discount keeps its current price until that promotion ends.
If another provider bills you, such as Amazon Prime Video Channels, DIRECTV, the Roku Channel or Sling TV, that provider will tell you whether and when its price changes. Check the company name on your card statement or the subscription page in the app if you are unsure who handles the bill.
How much can you save by switching plans?
At the new rates, changing from Ad-Free to the plan with ads saves $5 a month, or $60 over 12 months if the prices stay the same. Before switching, decide whether avoiding ads is worth that difference for the shows you watch most.
Does discovery+ still work as a separate service?
Yes. The official discovery+ company-update FAQ says there are no immediate changes to the discovery+ or Paramount+ apps, subscriptions or pricing because Warner Bros. Discovery and Paramount Skydance are coming together. It also says there are no immediate bundle changes.
A discovery+ subscription does not include HBO Max. HBO Max carries selected Discovery programming, so compare the actual shows in each catalog before paying for both or canceling one.
