Alberta's $1,000 Satellite Internet Rebate: How to Claim It for Starlink
Updated

Alberta opened applications for its Satellite Rebate Program on August 11, 2026. Eligible rural and remote households can get a one-time rebate of up to $1,000 toward the cost of connecting to high-speed low-Earth-orbit satellite internet, and Starlink equipment is on the program's current authorized-seller list.
What the rebate covers
The rebate applies to eligible low-Earth-orbit satellite hardware, installation supplies and services, and applicable taxes. It does not cover:
- Monthly internet charges
- Hardware rental fees
- Optional Wi-Fi equipment
- Business connections
Who qualifies
The program is for homes that don't have access to high-speed ground-based internet and aren't included in a government-funded broadband expansion project. The province estimates about 10,000 households fall outside current expansion projects.
Eligibility is based on federal broadband mapping. You can check an address by entering a street address, legal land description or GPS coordinates on the program page. Owners and renters can both apply, but only one rebate is allowed per household.
Key dates
- Purchases made from August 11, 2026 through March 31, 2027 may qualify.
- The application deadline is March 31, 2027.
How to apply
- Confirm your address is eligible on Alberta's Satellite Rebate Program page.
- Buy eligible equipment from an authorized seller and pay the costs yourself.
- Use the service for at least one month.
- Apply through a verified Alberta.ca account and submit your receipts.
Why Starlink qualifies
The program requires service of at least 50 Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload with latency of 50 ms or less. The current authorized-seller list identifies Starlink equipment as meeting those requirements. The province says other suppliers may be added while applications are open.

I bought my dish in September. Am I too late?
